The open-ended question type is one of the few ways the AYTM platform allows collection of qualitative responses. It's perfect for top of mind, unaided feedback, e.g. "Please list all brands that come to mind when you think about soft drinks". Such answers are invaluable when the objective is to learn something beyond your expectations without biasing respondents with a predetermined set of answers.
We do suggest, that you limit the number of open-ended questions you ask in your survey. Our recommendation is no more than 1/3 of your survey. This will ensure respondents don't become overwhelmed and continue to provide you with the highest quality feedback!
