Downloading the Product Sheet
Start by downloading the sheet. It comes back filled with your current products and their placements, and anything the sheet contains can be uploaded again as-is. That makes download, edit, upload the easiest way to set up dozens of products at once.
- In the Survey Editor, open your Shelf Test question.
- Click Product sheet above your product list.
- Click Download.
Filling In Product Details
Fill in as much or as little as you like—only three columns are required. Each row in the sheet is one product.
| Column | What It Sets |
|---|---|
| Name (required) | The product name. |
| Regular price (required) | The price shown on the shelf tag. |
| Height (required) | How tall the product stands on the shelf. |
| Discounted price | A sale price. When it's lower than the regular price, the shelf tag shows the saving. |
| Per-count price | A unit price shown next to the main price, exactly as you type it. |
| Description | The description respondents see when they open the product's detail view. |

Placing Products from the Sheet
You can lay out the whole shelf from the sheet by giving each product one column per facing.
- Add columns headed Facing 1, Facing 2, and so on—one for each facing a product has.
- In each facing cell, enter the position as Row.Position:
-
1.1—row 1, first product from the left. -
2.1—row 2, first product from the left. -
2.2—row 2, second product from the left.
-
- Leave the remaining facing cells empty for products with fewer facings.
A row is a single shelf. Rows are counted from the top of each section down, then continue into the next section—the same order the shelf editor uses to number them.
⚠️ Note: An upload replaces your whole product list, so it rewrites every placement too. A sheet with no facing columns clears the shelf. If you only want to update product details, download the sheet first so your current facing columns come with it.
A few more things to know:
- The sheet carries placements only. Alignment—Left, Center, Right, Shelf-flex, and the one-tag-per-product setting—belongs to the question. Set it in the shelf editor; the sheet can't change it.
- A placement that points past the question's last shelf, or past the last product row in the sheet, is dropped. The sheet doesn't add shelves—widen or add shelves in the shelf editor if you need more room.
- Shelves you control with conditional logic in the question text aren't saved as placements, so they don't appear as facing columns when you download the sheet.
Uploading the Product Sheet
- Save your edited sheet.
- In the Survey Editor, click Product sheet, then Upload.
- Locate and select your sheet on your computer.
- Click Open. Your product list is replaced with the products in the sheet, and each product is placed on the shelves according to its facing columns.
Adding Product Images
Once your products are in, you can add all their images in one drag-and-drop.
- Locate the image files on your computer.
- Select all the images you want to add.
- Drag them onto the camera icon in the first product row. Your drop target is highlighted in teal.
Images are assigned to products in the order they appear in your file browser.
💡 Tip: Name your image files so they sort in the same order as the products in your sheet—for example,
01_cereal.png,02_granola.png. Use the highest resolution available with a transparent background; PNG files work best.
