Club stores—Costco and Sam's Club—display products on pallets rather than on standard shelving. When you choose a club store shelving type in Shelf Test, a few things work differently: how you add product images, how you build and arrange the display, and how you write shelf logic.

Facings for Club Shelves
Club store displays consist of two levels: a base pallet loaded with product boxes and an overhead shelf for individual items. To accommodate this setup, Club Store product cards have dedicated image slots for both areas:
- Main product image: The box shown on the pallet.
- Secondary product image: The individual unit displayed on the top shelf.
- Up to five additional images.
- And a 3D picture.
You can also upload:
All of which will appear in a gallery when a respondent clicks the item.
💡 Tip: When you switch a question into or out of a pallet fixture, each product's main and single product images swap automatically, so the box and the unit always land on the right surface.
Setting Up the Pallet Display
Pick a layout first, then fine-tune heights, stacking, and placement in the structure view.
- Open the dropdown beneath your product list and choose a layout. The options are listed in the table below.
- Click Arrange above your product list. Pallet layouts open in the structure view instead of the free-form canvas.
- Hover over any rack level to set its height and stacking, or to add and remove levels.
- To control how much room each product gets, or to redo the arrangement, use Auto-arrange in the sidebar.
There are nine layouts—three base layouts, each available as a single, double, or triple run:
| Layout | What it builds |
|---|---|
| Pallet + 1 display shelf | A pallet with the display shelf above it. |
| Pallet + 1 shelf | A pallet, the display shelf, and one additional shelf. |
| Pallet + 2 shelves | A pallet, the display shelf, and two additional shelves. |
| 2x or 3x any of the above | The same layout repeated side by side, for an end-cap or an aisle run of up to six pallets. |
How the Structure View Works
- Each rack level appears as two half-width shelves side by side—a left pallet and a right pallet—exactly as respondents see them.
- Products are placed automatically. Auto-arrange opens switched on, because it's the placement method for pallets.
- Fill style options are measured in pallets rather than shelves.
⚠️ Note: Hanging shelves aren't available on pallets. If your pallet question uses several blocks, the structure view shows one block at a time. Club stores also offer the Counter refrigerator fixture, which uses the standard shelf editor.
Club Store Shelf Logic
If you write shelf logic by hand—for example, to vary the display based on an earlier answer—club shelves are read left to right along the top row, then left to right along the middle row (if there is one), then left to right along the bottom row.
Each layout is two columns wide, and the display shelf isn't included because it fills itself automatically. Use this table to see how many braces ({}) your logic needs:
| Layout | Braces to program |
|---|---|
| Pallet + 1 display shelf | 2 |
| Pallet + 1 shelf | 4 |
| Pallet + 2 shelves | 6 |
| 2x Pallet + 1 display shelf | 4 |
| 2x Pallet + 1 shelf | 8 |
| 2x Pallet + 2 shelves | 12 |
| 3x Pallet + 1 display shelf | 6 |
| 3x Pallet + 1 shelf | 12 |
| 3x Pallet + 2 shelves | 18 |
⚠️ Note: Display shelves always draw their products automatically, regardless of what your logic says.
