Menu Test is a research test that simulates a customer ordering experience on a menu image. Respondents interact with a menu board—tapping sections, browsing items, building an order with quantities and optional comments—just as they would at a counter, drive-thru, or delivery app. The result is behavioral data that shows how people navigate the menu, what they choose, and at what price point.

Key Capabilities
- Interactive menu image—upload any menu board image and draw clickable section shapes (rectangle, ellipse, polygon) directly over it using a built-in drawing tool.
- AI menu recognition—have Skipper read your menu image and fill in the items and sections for you, then touch up the result by hand. Rolled out team by team; contact your account manager if you don't see the Recognize button.
- Menu items with pricing—define items with names, optional prices, and an optional info note for anything else worth showing (calories, allergens, portion size). Assign items to one or more sections (the same item can appear in multiple sections).
- Menu item images—attach an image to any item so respondents see the product on its own, larger than it appears on the board or when the board has no picture of it. Item images also appear in your results and in the presentation export.
- Order simulation—respondents build a real order with quantities, review it, add a comment, and select a delivery option (Dine in, Drive thru, Pick up, or Delivery).
- N/A opt-out—enable an "I don't want to buy anything" option to capture respondents who would not order from this menu.
- Click heatmaps—see exactly where respondents click on the menu, visualized as density contours by section or by individual clicks.
- Section-level metrics—track which sections get the most attention, how long respondents spend in each, and how many of the respondents who opened a section went on to order from it.
- Item-level metrics—see purchase rates, average quantities, average spend, and time-to-order for every menu item.
- Order comments—collect verbatim feedback alongside order context, with AI-powered auto-coding and sentiment analysis.
- Bulk upload—download a CSV template, fill in your menu items, and upload them all at once instead of entering them one by one.

What Respondents See
On desktop, respondents see the menu in a fullscreen portal with zoom controls. On mobile, the menu renders inline with pinch-to-zoom. In both cases, respondents tap section areas on the menu image to browse items, adjust quantities, review their full order, and either place it or opt out.
Before the menu appears, respondents see a brief instruction screen:
- Select the items you would normally order by clicking on the menu.
- Choose the quantity for each item, then click "Add to order".
- When you've added all the items you want, click "Place order" to continue to the next question.
