Cloning makes you a new study from one that already exists—yours or a colleague's. When you clone, Bridge asks you one question: do you want the design, or the finished study?

How to Clone a Study
- Start the clone from any of these places:
- The dock—right-click the study's stone and choose Clone.
- All studies—open the table from the header, open the study's row menu, and choose Clone study.
- Someone else's study—press Clone to edit on the read-only banner.
- The Clone study dialog opens. Choose Setup only or Full copy with results (see Which Option to Pick). When both are possible, Full copy with results is selected to start with. If only one of them is possible for this study, the dialog tells you which one you're getting instead of asking.
- Under Team, choose where the copy should live. Your active team is selected by default. If there's only one place the copy can go—for example, a confidential study, which stays in its own team—the dialog shows that team instead of a list.
- Click Clone study. Bridge opens your new copy straight away.
💡 Tip: Skipper can't copy a study for you—use one of the three controls above. If you ask Skipper, it can start a brand-new study of the same type instead, but that starts from scratch and copies nothing.
Which Option to Pick
Setup only—"I want to run this again"
You get the study's design: its methodology, stimuli, audience, screening questions, sample size and budget choices, and questionnaire. You don't get any responses or a report. It's a new study that you can change freely and then launch, and you pay for it like any other study.
Pick this when you want to:
- Run the same test again, like next quarter's wave.
- Run the same test in a different market or with a different audience.
- Start from a design that already worked instead of starting from scratch.
Full copy with results—"I want to dig into these findings"
You get the finished study, and it opens on its report. You can read the report and ask Skipper questions about the results. You can't change the survey or launch it again.
Your copy doesn't duplicate any responses. It reads the same data as the original, so nothing you do in your copy affects the original study or its report.
Pick this when you want your own copy of a finished study, like a colleague's, so you can explore the results without touching their work.
⚠️ Note: Full copy with results only appears when the study is finished—its status in All studies reads Report—and you're allowed to see its responses. If you don't see it, the study isn't finished yet, it was stopped and refunded, or you don't have access to its data. Setup only is available for any study you can see, at any stage—including one that's still fielding.
What Carries Over
With Setup only, your copy gets the whole design: the methodology, your stimuli, your audience and screening questions, your sample size and budget choices, and the questionnaire.
What doesn't travel: the invoice, the report, the data, the conversation, and any edits made to the survey on the aytm side after it launched. Your copy gets a fresh survey when you check out.
⚠️ Note: Your copy arrives filled in but showing as not started yet. Every card shows the original's work while its status pill says To Do. That's deliberate, not a bug—a copy is a starting point to walk through again, not a finished study. Expect to re-confirm each step.
With Full copy with results, the report comes with it, but the responses are shared, not duplicated: one survey and one set of answers back both studies. Your copy gets its own copy of the report, so nothing you do to it reaches the original.
Either way, the copy remembers where it came from: its title starts with "Copy of", and its chat opens with Setting up a copy of study …. Delete the original later and your copy stays, still naming its source.
Where the Copy Lands
The copy is yours—you own it, whoever owned the original. A Setup only copy is fully yours to change. A Full copy with results is read-only: you can explore its report and ask Skipper about it, but you can't change or relaunch it. Either way, it's titled "Copy of" followed by the original's name, and it's docked in your workspace straight away.
You choose its team from the ones you can work in, and your active team is the default. If you're an account admin, you can pick any active team in the account. One restriction: a confidential study can only be copied into its own team. If you pick a confidential team for any copy, the dialog tells you the copy will be visible only to that team's members.
When a Copy Is Refused
| What you'll see | Why, and what to do |
|---|---|
| "A full copy needs a completed study whose responses you can open." | The study isn't finished, its survey is gone, or you're not cleared to read its data. Choose Setup only instead, or ask the owner for access to the results. |
| "This study is confidential and can only be copied within its own team." | Pick the study's own team as the destination. |
| "You can't create studies in that team." | Choose another team from the list. You can only copy into teams you can work in. |
You never need permission to edit a study in order to clone it. If you can see a study, you can always clone its setup.
⚠️ Note: A study can read Report and still refuse a Full copy with results. That happens when its survey was deleted, for example on a data-erasure request. The study still shows as finished, but there are no responses left to share, so only Setup only is offered.
