When you choose to field a List Survey, at the bottom of the Target Market page you'll see settings that can reduce the likelihood of repeat respondents.
Limit Answers from the Same Internet Connection (by IP Address)
To get a more even geographic distribution of respondents, or to reduce the possibility of one person taking the survey multiple times from the same location, set a tighter IP limit.
⚠️ Note: A tight IP limit might prevent answers from people sharing the same IP in an office, campus, web café, or similar shared-network environment.
Limit Answers from the Same Device (by Browser Cookies)
Limit the number of times your survey can be taken from the same browser using browser cookies. By default this is set to "unlimited" so researchers can accept unlimited responses at a single kiosk or device.
To enforce a better distribution and prevent anyone from skewing results by taking the survey multiple times:
- Check the box Limit answers from the same device (by browser cookies).
- Choose 1.
⚠️ Note: Other choices (2–5) are for situations when several people work from the same device/browser and you want to accept their responses.
Allow Only 1 Answer from the Same UUID
aytm monitors any unique user identifiers (UUIDs) you add to survey links after the ?uuid= parameter.
For example, if your survey URL is https://aytm.com/fHm6juj, you can customize it for respondent "A" by adding ?uuid=A at the end, making the full URL https://aytm.com/fHm6juj?uuid=A. The UUID value for each respondent is recorded in the raw survey data, which you can download from the stats page.
When this limit is enabled, once a survey is completed by someone with a given UUID, the survey will appear closed to anyone opening the link with the same UUID. With this checkbox on or off, the UUID feature helps complete interrupted sessions — for example, if a respondent starts the survey on mobile during a commute, they'll be placed at the last unanswered question when they open the same link from their home computer.
⚠️ Note: UUID is a special type of pass-through variable intended for use specifically with unique identifiers. If UUID validation is selected and the link does not include the UUID parameter with an associated value, the survey will appear as closed.
If UUID validation were enabled for a study:
https://aytm.com/example?uuid=person@email.com— would fulfill the UUID validation check.https://aytm.com/example?var_email=person@email.com— would fail the UUID validation check and the survey would appear as closed.

Don't Record Responses Without UUID
aytm monitors any unique user identifiers (UUIDs) you add to survey links after the ?uuid= parameter. For example, if a survey URL is https://aytm.com/fHm6juj, you customize it for respondent "A" by adding ?uuid=A at the end. UUID values for each respondent are recorded in the raw survey data.
If you check this option, you will be required to add a UUID variable for each respondent. Attempts to take the survey without a UUID at the end of the URL will be terminated with a "Survey is closed" message.
⚠️ Note: Enable this only if you're confident in your UUID setup. Reach out to our Customer Engagement team with any questions.
Enable the Back Button
