Referencing Race/Ethnicity through Logic

In countries where a Race/Ethnicity demographic trait is available, you can use logic to reference respondents' Race/Ethnicity.

Note: In US Panel surveys, the Hispanic origin and Multi-select Race questions that are asked of respondents in our panel assign them to a single ethnicity trait option, as outlined here.

Using the race variable

The race trait is what we use for setting filters and quotas on the Target Market page—regardless of fielding country. It is included in logic autocomplete, is available as a filter, and is a Virtual Question preset on the Results page, and exports in raw data files under the Race/Ethnicity column.

  • Variable name: race
  • Possible values: Values will be responsive to the fielding country. For example, in Singapore, the options are "Chinese", "Malay", "Indian", and "Other"
  • Example: [Show if race = "malay"]
