Virtual Questions: Hashtag Logic – aytm Help Center

Hashtag logic is a tool you can use to help streamline your data analysis—before you even begin fielding your survey. When you’re building your survey, use Hashtag logic in lists of more than 5 options to group items together; for example, products within the same brand label, or product category.

Adding Hashtag logic

With answer options filled in, click into an answer option text field and enter [#labeltext]
Note: per aytm Logic rules, labels may not contain spaces or other reserved words—but if you happen to use a variable that doesn’t work, a validation will appear to make sure you double check or rename the item.
Add appropriate hashtag logic to every item you would like to have grouped.

In this example, labels ShinyGlow, Purelocks, SilkyWave, CleanTress, and FreshFusion have been added to the products within those brands.

Hashtag Logic in Optional Presets

With a Virtual Question in place on your Results page, click the Optional Presets drop-down.
Select the item under the Hashtag Logic heading. Each VQ answer option will populate with the Question, filtered to the appropriate items, and labeled with the text from your hashtag.

Notice that if you’ve used the same hashtag in multiple questions, each question/answer set populates as a separate Optional Preset item.
