Does aytm Own the Data Collected in Surveys?
No. You, the client, exclusively own all of the research data you put into the aytm platform. This includes:
- Your survey questions
- Content you upload, such as images, videos, and files
- Survey responses
- Respondent information supplied as part of those responses
- All reports and downloads created from that data
aytm treats your research data as confidential information and uses it only as permitted by the Terms of Use.
How aytm Uses Your Data
| Use | What it means |
|---|---|
| Running your surveys | aytm stores and processes your survey questions and responses to field your surveys, deliver your results and statistics, and provide technical support. |
| Aggregated, anonymized data | aytm may use data from platform use in an aggregated, anonymized form to improve its services, develop products, and support customers. This data doesn't identify you or your specific results. |
| AI model training | aytm may use client data, such as survey responses and usage data, to train and improve its AI models unless you opt out. See Opting Out of AI Model Training. |
| Legal requirements | aytm will disclose information when a regulation, law, subpoena, or court order requires it. |
aytm does not sell or publish specific information about your data, except as described in the Terms of Use and Privacy Policy or when the law requires it.
Opting Out of AI Model Training
To keep your data out of aytm's AI model training, email support@aytm.com with the subject line AYTM AI Opt-Out Request.
If you opt out, your data isn't used to train aytm's global AI models. It's used only to improve the experience inside your own workspace.
Opting out of training is separate from using AI features. AI-powered features, such as Skipper survey authoring, image response analysis, heatmaps, and sentiment analysis, are optional. You can choose not to use them in your surveys.
💡 Tip: To see which third-party providers, including AI providers, help aytm deliver its services, check the aytm subprocessors list.
Who Else Can See Your Data
- Your team—If your account is part of a multi-user subscription, your team's account admin and other team members can see your surveys and activity.
- aytm's service providers—Providers such as hosting, payment, email, and chat services get access only as far as they need to perform their services for aytm.
- Survey respondents—Respondents see your survey questions. If you include personal information in a question, respondents will see it.
Keeping and Deleting Your Data
- Access—Your data stays available for as long as the survey remains in your Dashboard.
- Deleting a survey—Deleting a survey from your Dashboard permanently deletes its data.
- Deleting your account—Email deletemyaccount@aytm.com from the email address on your aytm account.
- Subscription ending—If your subscription isn't renewed, you lose access to the platform. Download any data you want to keep before the subscription expires.
⚠️ Note: After you delete your account, deletion by aytm's third-party providers may not be immediate. Deleted information may remain in backup copies for up to 24 months, or longer if the law requires it.
Your Responsibilities for Respondent Data
- Panel surveys—Don't ask aytm-supplied respondents for personal information, such as names, addresses, email addresses, or phone numbers, without written permission from aytm. See How to Collect Personal Information.
- Respondent media—Videos, recordings, photos, and similar content you receive from respondents may be used only for your own internal business purposes. You can't share it with third parties, except with your own customers who specifically ordered that content.
- List Surveys—You are the data controller for personal information you collect or provide to aytm. You're responsible for making sure any contact list you use was obtained lawfully, and you can't promise List Survey respondents anonymity.
