When launching a survey to a group of respondents in an online panel, you may be tempted to ask for an email address or another way to follow up after the survey. However, it is against privacy guidelines and our Terms of Use (TOU) policy to collect any personally identifiable information from respondents within a Panel survey. Collecting PII in List Surveys
For List Surveys, you may ask respondents to provide personally identifying information such as first name. To collect anything more specific, such as an email address, you must:
- Explain to respondents the reason for collecting emails.
- Ask respondents to explicitly agree to providing their email.
- If respondents agree, you may ask for the email. If they don't consent, you must skip that question.
