Whether your aytm account can hold more than one person depends on your subscription. Once your account has more than one seat, an administrator can invite colleagues and give each of them a role—and that role decides what they can see and do, from running only their own studies to managing the whole account.

Single-Team vs. Multi-Team Accounts
Your account is either a single-team account, where everyone belongs to one team, or a multi-team account, where members are split across several teams. Which one you're on determines both the roles available to you and how one of those roles behaves.
- On a single-team account, you'll work with three roles: account owner, team admin, and researcher. A researcher can create and run their own surveys and open surveys shared with the team, but a colleague's unshared survey stays private to them.
- On a multi-team account, two more roles become available: account admin and follower. Researchers also get broader access here—full rights to every survey belonging to their team, the same as their team admin.
💡 Tip: On a multi-team account, administering one team grants nothing on another. If a colleague needs to work across teams, they need the account admin role.
Roles and Permissions
Here's what each role can do.
| Role | Permissions |
|---|---|
| Account owner | The person the account belongs to. Ownership isn't a permission level on its own—it protects the owner (other admins can't remove or demote them) and gates a few account-level actions. Day-to-day access comes from the role the owner also holds: on a single-team account they're the team admin, and on a multi-team account they're an account admin. |
|
Account admin Multi-team accounts only |
Full access across every team in the account, including teams they aren't a member of and confidential teams. Can add, remove, and re-role members anywhere in the account, manage every team's budgets and shared payment methods, and see every transaction on the account. |
| Team admin | Full access to their own team: every survey on it, plus the team's members, invitations, budgets, and shared payment methods. On a single-team account, that covers the whole account. On a multi-team account, it covers that team only. |
| Researcher |
On a single-team account: can create and run
their own surveys and open surveys shared with the team. A colleague's
unshared survey stays private to them. On a multi-team account: full access to every survey belonging to their team, the same as the team admin—but can't manage members, team budgets, or shared payment methods. |
|
Follower Multi-team accounts only |
Read-only access to a team they've chosen to follow: its dashboard, folders, surveys, and statistics. Can't edit or launch anything, and doesn't see the team's transactions. |
⚠️ Note: Ownership can't be reassigned from within the platform. If the owner of your account needs to change, contact aytm support.
