You can create a Virtual Question (VQ) based on Pins or Clusters from a Heatmap question type.
Creating a VQ from Heatmap Pins
- From the Data Lab tab, drag and drop a new Virtual Question into your report.
- Click on the first dropdown under A1. and scroll down to find the Heatmap question from your survey, or type search terms into the field.
- Click the second dropdown to display the Pin types programmed into the Heatmap question, and select the pins to include or exclude: click the box next to a pin once to include it (blue +), twice to exclude it (red -), and a third time to restore the default.
- Add a label for the A1. of the chart.
- Create answers or traits to compare in A2. and following, then click Generate Data.
If you need to combine Pins with other data points from your survey, switch to advanced mode to create custom filters with aytm logic. For example, to filter a pin by gender, switch to advanced mode and type and gender = 'f' into the answer line.
💡 Tip: If a Pin had open-ended responses, they will also populate in your VQ — click Load word cloud to populate the word cloud and its settings.
Creating a VQ from Heatmap Clusters
If you save a custom cluster in your Heatmap, you can reference it within a Virtual Question.
- From the Data Lab tab, drag and drop a new Virtual Question into your report.
- Click on an answer line and scroll to your Heatmap question.
- Click the second dropdown to include (single click) or exclude (two clicks) saved clusters.
- Switch to Advanced mode to populate clusters using the syntax
in cluster "cluster name". - Build additional answer comparisons and click Generate data.
