Dive deeper into a question by adding a text field that allows respondents to expand on an answer. Collecting these open-ended responses is a great way to learn more about the respondents taking your surveys.
Enabling Open-Response Options
- Hover over an answer choice and click the speech bubble on the right side of the answer text field.
- Select Optional, Mandatory, or Off:
- Optional — allows respondents to leave a response if they choose.
- Mandatory — requires the respondent to leave a response before moving on.
- Off — disables the text field for that answer choice.
When respondents select an answer choice with an open-ended response (optional or required), they'll be prompted to fill out a response. All written responses can be viewed on your results page and in raw data exports.
